I've picked out my top five favorite barbeque joints in Los Angeles.  My personal favorite, Dr. Hogly Wogly's, I've been going to for over 30 years, whewww I'm getting old, and the other's are simply the best that I have found in my search for really good food in Los Angeles.  If you're craving good BBQ, start with these five suggestions.  You will NOT be disappointed!

DR. HOGLY WOGLY'S TYLER, TX BBQ:  I'm not going to beat around the bush on this subject because it involves barbeque.  I've eaten at the best bbq spots in the United States including Arthur Bryant's in Kansas City, MO, and various joints in Texas.  I take this seriously! 
Here's what you need to do at Dr. Hogly Wogly's:
1) Go with at least 3 people
2) Order the following Dinner Plates:  1/2 lb. Sliced Beef Brisket, 1/2 Slabs of Spareribs (a total of 6 ribs), and 1/2 Slab of beef ribs (5 ribs) 
3) Sides: Each of you must get an order of the baked beans because you will NOT want to share.  Then share your second side with each other.  The dinners also come with their amazing bread!

Now, the magical thing about Hogly Wogly's is that their secret sauce is the best you'll ever have in California and their meats are slowly bbq'd in an authentic wood burning brick oven.  Ever had pizza cooked in a brick oven?  It's the best! Imagine a marinated brisket covered in their special spices slowly cooked to perfection.  The fat is trimmed.  The sauce prepared.  Let the feast begin.

THE BEAR PIT:  My suggestion  is the Steak Sandwich that is served on a Garlic-Slathered toasted bun sent from heaven.  It comes with slaw, really good bbq beans and thick cut fries.
The Pit also has amazing Louisianna Hot Links, a bbq ducking (in their own orange sauce), and great spareribs.  If you can't make up your mind, order the Taster’s Treat that includes: Two Pieces Chicken, One Beef Rib, Two Spareribs, Hefty Portions of Beef and Pork, Add Cole Slaw, Taters, Bar-B-Q Beans & Garlic Toast

THE ORIGINAL TEXAS BBQ KING:  This decision is simple: Texas style ribs, the BEST Mac N' Cheese, Cole Slaw and Fries.  Order an extra side of corn bread and a their sweet potato pie for desert.  Trust me.

THE BONEYARD BISTRO:  This place is swanky, classy, and fun.  Normally I wouldn't put a place like this on a 'best of list' for a barbeque joint, but their steaks are just too good to miss.  They're a little expensive, but well worth it.  Order their brisket dinner for $22, but includes a choice of sides.  PLEASE make sure to order their FRIED MACARONI AND CHEESE as a side!  You're a fool to pass this up!  They also have quite the selection of great wines, a CRAZY huge selection of premium beers and a full bar.  Also, their beef ribs are grilled with oak, giving them an amazing flavor. 

Also, this sounds crazy, but order their Kobe Beef Chili Cheese Filled Donuts!

THE KANSAS CITY BBQ COMPANY:  This one is easy to break down: strip mall, amazing mac and cheese, the smell of sauce = AWESOME BBQ!

I've eaten here quite a few time and I think the Burnt End Sandwich is my favorite.  How can you go wrong?  The Ends are the best part!

They also have great chicken and hot links, Happy Hour from 3-7 M-F, and cheap beer.  If you're anywhere near North Hollywood and hungry, stop by.
