Annual Dungenous Crab Festival in Port Angeles, WA

I really enjoyed the Dungeness Crab Festival this past October in Port Angeles, Washington.  It is held every year during the second weekend in October on the Port Angeles pier and offers amazing seafood, a crab tank derby, local artists and shopping.

CRAB FEED
The "Crab Feed" is held in a huge and packed tent adjacent to the pier. They offer not only the crab feast shown above, but local restaurants, wineries, and breweries have booths inside the tent selling a variety of drinks and crab-related foods.
It's always fun watching grown adults struggle to crack open crustaceans and suck out their innards while wearing an over-sized red foam crab hat with claws bouncing about!

My suggestion: Try a little of everything. My friend and I shared crabcakes, a crab-role sandwich a lot of steamed mussels and oysters and of course, good local beer!

GRAB A CRAB TANK DERBY
The Grab a Crab Derby was a lot of fun. You pay $5 and you have 10 minutes to catch as many crabs, located in this huge tank, as you can. You then take your catch only a few feet over where they clean, cook and wrap your crab for you right there to take home and enjoy!

CRAB SHOPPING
Just outside the huge "Crab Feed" tent were dozens of vendors selling everything from Crazy Crab Hats, clothing, food, and art from the nearby Macah Indian Reservation.
