Great Lodges in Yosemite National Park

WAWONA LODGE
This Yosemite Guide will give you three hotels ranging between peaceful (Wawona), luxurious (the Ahwahnee) and rustic (Curry Village).
If you are looking for total silence & guaranteed relaxation in one of the most beautiful places in the United States, Wawona is the right choice for you.

The rooms do not have television or phones, some rooms have shared bathrooms, are Victorian or European-styled and are located four miles from the Yosemite Valley, away from the hordes of spring and summer tourists. They have their own golf course on the property and you have the option of snow shooing or cross country skiing in the winter months. They also offer complimentary breakfasts.

Wawona isn't open year round, so check their website for availability:http://www.yosemitepark.com/accommodations_wawonahotel.aspx

THE AHWAHNEE HOTEL
I have to be honest, I have never been able to afford to stay here, but I have relaxed in their lobby after a long day of hiking in the Valley and had a cocktail or two in their beautiful bar. Someday, I'll be able to afford a week here!

It was built in 1927 by the National Park Service, after Lady Astor complained that Yosemite didn't have a hotel luxurious enough for her taste. This grander-than-grand lodge that has 24 cottage rooms located on the grounds surrounding the main building and 99 rooms in its hotel itself.

Some even claim the hotel is haunted.

Take a look at these photos: http://www.yosemitefun.com/ahwahnee.htm

CURRY VILLAGE
Curry Village has really cool canvas tents that sleep up to five people that include bear-proof lockers! How cool is that! They also have cabins for those of you who want to be in the woods, but not sleep like mountain men.

In my opinion, this is the BEST way to experience Yosemite!
