A Sunday on La Grande Jatte -- 1884, 1884-86
THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO
I believe this museum has one of the best Impressionist collections in the United States. The Seurat is breathtaking, they have a six-series of Claude Monet's haystacks, numerous Manets, and two prints and six paintings of my personal favorite, Toulouse-Lautrec. Oh yeah, and numerous Van Goghs.

If you only have a limited amount of time in this museum, my best suggestion is enter thru the Main Entrance on Michigan Avenue, walk up the Grand Staircase to Floor 2, walk all the way thru the Impressionism section (Galleries 201, 225-6, 240-243), continue thru the causeway containing the European Art pre-1900, and walk down the stairs to Floor 1.
At the base of the stairs, check out the Asian shop and continue thru the double doors into Griffin Court which contains the Film, Video and New Media gallery, the photography gallery and the special exhibitions gallery. Double back toward the staircase and enter the Alsdorf Galleries (140-142) that contain the most amazing Indian, Cambodian, Thai and Himalayan Art, bringing you back to the Grand Staircase.
Still have time? Check out the Miniature Room on the Lower Level, Ancient Egypt on Level 1, and walk across the Nichols Bridgeway on Level 3 and wander into Millennium Park!
