The best meat in NYC - inspired by Anthony Bourdain

Anthony Bourdain is one of the most brilliant and most daring culinary thrill seekers every! I just love him!

In one of his most recent episodes, he visited New York City and bounced around to all of the old favorites that thrived in the glory days. I've listed some of his stops in addition to my personal favorites.

Katz's Delicatessan, the first place I visit when in the Big Apple. Others try their corned beef.... Nahhhh....... Just pastrami on rye with mustard, pickles and a Dr. Brown's Black Cherry soda for me please!
Address: 205 Houston Street, New York, NY 10002

Le Veau d'Or - Open since 1937, Le Veau d'Or is an extraordinary time warp of a restaurant, the last place in New York where you can still get uncompromised Escoffier cuisine and have your roast carved tableside by a man who worked directly under Henri Soule'. They've had the same customers and menu for 50 years.
Address: 129 East 60th Street, New York, NY 10022

Keen's Steak House
Address: 72 West 36th Street, New York, NY 10018

Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop - opened in 1929 when New York City was full of places like this.
Address: 174 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10010

Heidelberg - Since 1908, (originally called Cafe' Fatherland) the Heidelberg Restaurant has embodied Yorkville's Germanic heritage with its stout cuisine and oceans of fresh beer. The casual space feels like an old Bavarian hunting lodge, with a deer antler chandelier, musty dark paintings and trellises, and a lederhosen.
Address: 1648 Second Avenue, New York, NY 10028

Carnegie Deli - The legendary sandwiches served at this landmark New York deli are so big that you can take half home for dinner! Great pastrami, buttery corned beef and mile high cheesecake. A true New York deli experience.
Address: 854 7th Ave, at 55th St.

Sammy's Roumanian - the iconic Jewish steakhouse on the Lower East Side.
Address: 157 Chrystie Street, New York, NY 10002

Zabar's - Saved my favorite for last! Zabar's not only has an amazing deli counter filled with fresh knishes and other baked goods, but has bags of mystery cheeses in their gourmet market!
Address: 2245 Broadway
